King Charles I Grammar School

WW2 Memorial Plaque

The wooden Memorial Plaque dedicated to the Old Carolians who died in WW2 was unveiled on Friday 17th November 1950 in the School Hall.

There must be many Old Carolians who remember standing in the Hall at morning assemblies wondering about the men whose names were inscribed in gold lettering on this board: who were they? What were they like? What had they done in school and after they had left? under what circumstance did they die? There will undoubtedly have been a few boys in 1950 who could put a face to some of the names a bit senior to themselves.

Here you will find accounts that tells us a more than just the names of the Old Carolians  who gave their lives for their country in WW2.
